00:00:38:04 - 00:00:42:03 So today we\\\'re going to talk about goal setting and 90 day goals in particular.
00:00:42:16 - 00:00:45:23 Many goals are very important to grow your business because it helps
00:00:46:00 - 00:00:50:06 set guidelines for where you want to go and develop micro strategies to
00:00:50:11 - 00:00:51:19 to get there.
00:00:51:19 - 00:00:54:08 Studies have shown that 90 day goals are pretty much the best ones
00:00:54:08 - 00:00:55:12 that you can have because
00:00:55:12 - 00:00:58:21 after about 90 days, your attention and your focus starts to wane.
00:00:58:21 - 00:01:03:16 So if you set a goal, 90 day goal, and then each 90 days review it and set
00:01:03:16 - 00:01:05:14 another goal, you can really start to build
00:01:05:14 - 00:01:07:18 some momentum, start to have some successes
00:01:07:18 - 00:01:10:18 and really start to grow and to build your business.
00:01:11:04 - 00:01:14:07 One thing we do at SBS Consulting systems is once
00:01:14:07 - 00:01:17:21 we set these 90 day goals, we then go and set weekly goals of how to
00:01:17:21 - 00:01:21:17 or what I call micro strategies on how to achieve these 90 day goals
00:01:21:17 - 00:01:24:17 and really to implement them and to grow your business from there.

00:01:52:12 - 00:01:55:18 you know, these amazing podcast studios you got going on now.
00:01:56:11 - 00:01:58:12 Thanks. It started for me years ago.
00:01:58:12 - 00:02:02:14 I actually worked at a semi-truck dealership and the boss was like,
00:02:02:14 - 00:02:05:14 Hey, go out and take a couple of pictures of some of these trucks to sell.
00:02:06:04 - 00:02:09:11 And from there I kind of leveraged that and I\\\'m like,
00:02:09:11 - 00:02:12:13 Well, if I can take pictures of them, why don\\\'t I make videos of them?
00:02:12:13 - 00:02:16:09 And I ended up with a YouTube channel that had about 19,000 subscribers
00:02:16:09 - 00:02:18:17 and a couple of videos approaching a million views
00:02:19:20 - 00:02:21:22 that I mean, that\\\'s where the kind of
00:02:21:22 - 00:02:25:12 I\\\'ve always had a thing for video and photo and stuff like that.
00:02:25:12 - 00:02:28:12 But that\\\'s where I\\\'m like, Oh man, I can do this.
00:02:28:16 - 00:02:32:17 So it started with that and that has blossomed.
00:02:32:17 - 00:02:35:19 I went full time with the business a little over two years ago now.
00:02:35:20 - 00:02:38:04 Okay? I have loved it ever since.
00:02:38:04 - 00:02:41:15 And then earlier this year, we built the two podcast studios, that
00:02:42:06 - 00:02:44:02 one of which we\\\'re sitting in right now.
00:02:44:02 - 00:02:46:23 Yeah. Oh, that\\\'s beautiful, too. Thank you.
00:02:46:23 - 00:02:51:02 I think we first met a few months ago when you\\\'re launching the studio
00:02:51:02 - 00:02:52:03 from CuyahogaFalls.
00:02:52:03 - 00:02:55:10 That was, you know, I was just like, Man, this thing\\\'s awesome.
00:02:55:10 - 00:02:57:06 Like, we need to get something involved, you know?
00:02:57:06 - 00:03:00:13 So I talked to Molly at the chamber, and she\\\'s like,
00:03:00:13 - 00:03:01:17 Yeah, someone else was interested.
00:03:01:17 - 00:03:04:10 I thought that Sean we start to get things rolling.
00:03:04:10 - 00:03:06:06 It\\\'s been a process that\\\'s really exciting,
00:03:06:06 - 00:03:07:14 so I\\\'m glad we can use the space.

00:03:16:20 - 00:03:20:17 You know how I know you mentioned, you know, you started with
00:03:21:06 - 00:03:22:19 the company you\\\'re working for and branched out.
00:03:22:19 - 00:03:24:23 What you know when you left there.
00:03:24:23 - 00:03:26:17 What was kind of your vision?
00:03:26:17 - 00:03:29:19 You know, how do you build those skills to can do everything you provide?
00:03:29:19 - 00:03:34:02 Now, it\\\'s kind of interesting because when I was doing the YouTube stuff,
00:03:34:02 - 00:03:37:03 it really was I mean, I was in front of the camera,
00:03:37:03 - 00:03:41:15 I was behind the camera, I was editing, I was doing all the things that
00:03:41:21 - 00:03:44:13 and I\\\'ve always joked, if you ever start to like yourself
00:03:44:13 - 00:03:48:23 a little bit, film yourself for a solid day and then watch it
00:03:48:23 - 00:03:52:17 for like another day and a half straight, you will be like, I hate that guy.
00:03:52:19 - 00:03:54:12 That guy needs to go away.
00:03:54:12 - 00:03:57:19 But really, I mean, it started in, I don\\\'t want to say out of necessity,
00:03:57:19 - 00:04:01:00 but I saw the videos and I saw I always wanted to get better.
00:04:01:02 - 00:04:01:15 And that\\\'s
00:04:01:15 - 00:04:04:15 one of the things that I love about it is that there\\\'s always opportunities
00:04:04:15 - 00:04:05:21 to get better with it.
00:04:06:23 - 00:04:09:18 I when I started to get into it, I wrote out a business plan
00:04:09:18 - 00:04:13:10 that said in 3 to 5 years I go, I go full time when the opportunity
00:04:13:10 - 00:04:16:10 presented itself and it\\\'s like, Let\\\'s go,
00:04:16:15 - 00:04:19:01 right?
00:04:19:01 - 00:04:22:06 So my limited, limited knowledge of photography,
00:04:22:12 - 00:04:25:12 I know there\\\'s a lot of stuff that goes behind the scenes,
00:04:26:04 - 00:04:30:23 you know, how how do you dive into learning those skills?
00:04:30:23 - 00:04:32:09 Is there like a school?
00:04:32:09 - 00:04:34:07 Did you hit the books?
00:04:34:07 - 00:04:36:15 Do you watch other YouTube videos and struggle from there?
00:04:36:15 - 00:04:38:15 I mean, how does that process work?
00:04:38:15 - 00:04:41:09 I feel there\\\'s a combination of it, actually.
00:04:41:09 - 00:04:44:12 I mean, photography, I mean, everyone\\\'s like, Oh, I\\\'ve got an iPhone.
00:04:44:12 - 00:04:47:06 I\\\'m like, Congratulations.
00:04:47:06 - 00:04:50:06 That\\\'s why your thumb is in half the pictures, too.
00:04:51:01 - 00:04:52:17 Or that\\\'s why people aren\\\'t centered.
00:04:52:17 - 00:04:55:20 It it\\\'s really getting some basic techniques
00:04:55:20 - 00:04:58:21 I learned from basic videos on YouTube University.
00:04:59:07 - 00:05:02:13 But it\\\'s like anything else and it\\\'s like even the business side of it
00:05:02:13 - 00:05:05:06 and like that, you have to go out and practice.
00:05:05:06 - 00:05:08:01 It is a skill to get good photos.
00:05:08:01 - 00:05:11:01 There are some people that are born with some natural talent.
00:05:11:02 - 00:05:12:03 One of the photographers
00:05:12:03 - 00:05:15:21 that works for me, she had never picked up a camera before in her life,
00:05:15:21 - 00:05:20:02 but she had some great photos on her phone and I\\\'m like, She\\\'s got an eye for it.
00:05:20:19 - 00:05:23:07 So I needed to teach her the technical side of it.
00:05:23:07 - 00:05:24:18 We got her up the steam with that.
00:05:24:18 - 00:05:26:19 So but there\\\'s there\\\'s always new gear,
00:05:26:19 - 00:05:29:06 there\\\'s always new stuff, there\\\'s always new things to learn.
00:05:29:06 - 00:05:31:05 And that\\\'s one of the things that I love about it.
00:05:31:05 - 00:05:34:23 But I can still take a decent picture with my phone and like
00:05:35:03 - 00:05:38:16 if you compare mine to someone that doesn\\\'t have any photo experience,
00:05:38:16 - 00:05:42:06 there\\\'s typically you can be like, Oh, I know you\\\'ll see that one.
00:05:42:07 - 00:05:44:15 The passion behind it, you know, the love for it
00:05:44:15 - 00:05:48:02 and the passion really go a long way and speak that in the work.
00:05:48:03 - 00:05:49:08 That\\\'s a huge part of it.
00:05:49:08 - 00:05:52:08 And some of the best photos I have is because I was out
00:05:52:08 - 00:05:56:04 willing to be outside or willing to be in these crappy conditions that no
00:05:56:04 - 00:05:57:06 one else wanted to be in.
00:05:59:16 - 00:06:00:13 Yeah, it makes like,
00:06:00:13 - 00:06:02:09 just like you mentioned last week on your business
00:06:02:09 - 00:06:04:23 tip of the week, it\\\'s, you know, put in that time. Yeah.
00:06:04:23 - 00:06:08:15 The consistency, consistency and just learning a little bit, a little bit
00:06:08:17 - 00:06:13:04 and then 18 minutes a day for the year and you know when you\\\'re 95% better than
00:06:14:10 - 00:06:16:15 your competition, just that consistency.
00:06:16:15 - 00:06:20:17 So yeah, it\\\'s consistently looking at and looking at photos.
00:06:20:17 - 00:06:23:17 I mean, I edit every single photo that we run
00:06:24:07 - 00:06:27:10 so we can look at it and be like, what do we need to do to get better?
00:06:27:11 - 00:06:30:11 Because there\\\'s always there\\\'s always little tweaks that you can make.
00:06:31:04 - 00:06:32:12 Now, I know you have
00:06:32:12 - 00:06:35:22 a wide range of services, but what are some of the services that you guys offer?
00:06:36:02 - 00:06:40:08 And the main things that we do is we do a lot of event photos and that
00:06:40:17 - 00:06:43:11 in fact we do a fair bit of work for Belden Village.
00:06:43:11 - 00:06:46:12 We\\\'ve done a lot of work for that for the mall with photos,
00:06:46:12 - 00:06:49:12 videos, a lot of the event stuff.
00:06:49:15 - 00:06:54:10 We also work with a number of nonprofits for doing promotional videos for them,
00:06:54:10 - 00:06:57:18 and that\\\'s one of my favorite kind of passion things because we
00:06:57:18 - 00:07:00:18 we love telling those stories and some of those
00:07:01:02 - 00:07:03:05 the ability to get in there and tell their stories.
00:07:03:05 - 00:07:04:17 Same thing with some of the commercial side.
00:07:04:17 - 00:07:08:00 There\\\'s a lot of great businesses out there that their stories need told.
00:07:08:03 - 00:07:10:23 Yeah, and we absolutely love doing that.
00:07:10:23 - 00:07:12:18 We do that both photo and video.
00:07:12:18 - 00:07:14:09 And then once again here in the podcast.
00:07:14:09 - 00:07:18:03 Yeah, it\\\'s been nice the till we did that the Aultman Care Foundation
00:07:18:03 - 00:07:20:23 and the pathway caring for children that\\\'s it\\\'s
00:07:20:23 - 00:07:23:23 nice to see what they have going on and how they support the community
00:07:23:23 - 00:07:25:20 and what support they need for sure.
00:07:25:20 - 00:07:28:20 And it\\\'s that it\\\'s one of the things that I love about it.
00:07:28:20 - 00:07:30:09 For me, I\\\'m a storyteller.
00:07:31:10 - 00:07:33:12 You can tell by the amount that I\\\'m rambling.
00:07:33:12 - 00:07:38:08 So it\\\'s so being a storyteller, though, I love coming in and hearing these stories
00:07:38:08 - 00:07:42:14 and helping these people tell stories that may not get out
00:07:42:14 - 00:07:46:10 otherwise, like Pathways, their story, they market well.
00:07:46:10 - 00:07:48:10 They do things to get out in front of people.
00:07:48:10 - 00:07:51:10 But the fact that you guys brought them into the studio here,
00:07:51:14 - 00:07:54:11 there was a story there that I mean, if you haven\\\'t
00:07:54:11 - 00:07:57:14 watched that yet, people need to go out and watch it or listen to it.
00:07:57:14 - 00:08:02:01 But there\\\'s a stories there that probably wouldn\\\'t get told many people otherwise.
00:08:02:01 - 00:08:04:03 And that is what I absolutely love.
00:08:04:03 - 00:08:05:17 That\\\'s what gets me up in the morning.
00:08:05:17 - 00:08:10:04 Yeah, and definitely video and podcasts allow that, allow that storytelling.
00:08:10:04 - 00:08:13:12 And it\\\'s the easiest and best way to get that across over and over without.
00:08:13:12 - 00:08:17:04 I mean, we\\\'ve seen in a few hours and you can you can keep posting it.
00:08:17:04 - 00:08:21:02 I mean it\\\'s out there for every might get a million views you know right
00:08:21:06 - 00:08:24:06 exactly it that\\\'s it\\\'s it\\\'s out there just forever
00:08:24:06 - 00:08:27:20 working for you all the time even the photos the same thing.
00:08:27:20 - 00:08:29:12 It\\\'s out there working for you all the time.
00:08:31:03 - 00:08:34:03 So I we always like to ask business owners,
00:08:34:04 - 00:08:37:19 especially small business owners, get started in their first nine or ten years.
00:08:37:19 - 00:08:40:19 So, you know what?
00:08:41:01 - 00:08:43:05 I guess first is around the customer.
00:08:43:05 - 00:08:47:02 So what problem do you solve And or, you know, what would you
00:08:47:02 - 00:08:48:13 do you feel for your customers?
00:08:48:13 - 00:08:52:15 For me, it\\\'s that the the problem is, is so many of them need to tell their story.
00:08:52:15 - 00:08:54:20 Don\\\'t know how to tell their story. That\\\'s one part of it.
00:08:54:20 - 00:08:56:14 The other one is this is in so many cases, it\\\'s
00:08:56:14 - 00:08:59:14 just generating that marketing material for them.
00:08:59:19 - 00:09:02:09 Someone\\\'s got an event like let\\\'s say there\\\'s
00:09:02:09 - 00:09:05:09 for instance, there\\\'s an event at the Hall of Fame,
00:09:05:15 - 00:09:09:21 rather than having one of your employees run around getting for pictures
00:09:09:21 - 00:09:10:22 that they\\\'re going to forget about
00:09:10:22 - 00:09:13:23 until the last minute, that they\\\'re going to be half on an angle.
00:09:14:04 - 00:09:17:00 There\\\'s going to be a thumb and there may be some kid picking his nose
00:09:17:00 - 00:09:18:17 in the background that they didn\\\'t notice.
00:09:18:17 - 00:09:22:17 Yeah, we come in and take those photos and get rid of that pain.
00:09:22:17 - 00:09:26:10 So now they\\\'ve got photos not only to say, look at what we did,
00:09:26:17 - 00:09:29:19 but they\\\'ve also got photos to promote that event the next year
00:09:29:19 - 00:09:32:06 and they\\\'ve got photos to do other stuff with.
00:09:32:06 - 00:09:34:08 And it\\\'s the same thing with the videos we\\\'ve used.
00:09:34:08 - 00:09:35:17 We\\\'ve created video clips
00:09:35:17 - 00:09:40:08 for people from events where we\\\'ve gotten 100 clips out of it.
00:09:40:08 - 00:09:44:04 We used 30 for the initial video to say, Hey, look at what we did.
00:09:44:14 - 00:09:47:15 And then two months later they\\\'re like, Hey, we got an event
00:09:47:15 - 00:09:49:06 that\\\'s got something similar.
00:09:49:06 - 00:09:51:02 Great, let\\\'s come up with a video for it.
00:09:51:02 - 00:09:55:02 So it it really it helps with that marketing and it gets rid of that pain
00:09:55:02 - 00:09:55:12 point.
00:09:55:12 - 00:09:58:15 And we can do stuff vertical too, because they know rails are hot,
00:09:59:03 - 00:10:02:10 so we\\\'ll do stuff or we\\\'ll do stuff for vertical also.
00:10:02:10 - 00:10:04:18 So that way people can put rails together.
00:10:04:18 - 00:10:07:01 It just takes the pain away, makes it easy for them.
00:10:07:01 - 00:10:08:01 They don\\\'t need to think about it.
00:10:10:18 - 00:10:13:14 So what do you customers choose you over a competitor?
00:10:13:14 - 00:10:16:21 And there\\\'s a lot of people that do photography, you know, like there
00:10:16:21 - 00:10:20:08 is, you know, how you know, how did you do free yourself,
00:10:21:02 - 00:10:23:09 you know, and you provide a little bit more than some other people do.
00:10:23:09 - 00:10:24:16 So tell me a little bit about that.
00:10:24:16 - 00:10:27:16 We we have a little bit more depth.
00:10:28:04 - 00:10:31:13 We have in many cases, I was supposed to be working
00:10:31:13 - 00:10:34:11 with a professional golfer here and a project coming up and like, hey,
00:10:34:11 - 00:10:37:03 do you have a photographer that can work with us on this?
00:10:37:03 - 00:10:37:20 And I said, Yeah.
00:10:37:20 - 00:10:40:20 One of my photographers just came in off the PGA Tour,
00:10:41:03 - 00:10:44:09 so we\\\'ve got depth in the bench, I guess you could say, to pull from.
00:10:44:15 - 00:10:48:07 The other thing is I always strive to become a partner of whatever business
00:10:48:07 - 00:10:49:01 we\\\'re working with.
00:10:49:01 - 00:10:50:09 We want to know your business.
00:10:50:09 - 00:10:52:07 We want to know what you do.
00:10:52:07 - 00:10:55:07 We want to tell that story correctly.
00:10:55:07 - 00:10:57:17 And that\\\'s what we\\\'re going to take the time to do that.
00:10:57:17 - 00:11:02:20 It\\\'s video and photo is very much like paint going on a house.
00:11:02:20 - 00:11:06:13 It\\\'s so much about the prep work and not as much about the paint.
00:11:06:13 - 00:11:09:17 If we put in the time and the prep, it\\\'s going to come out looking great.
00:11:10:13 - 00:11:12:08 That\\\'s awesome. That\\\'s so important.
00:11:15:08 - 00:11:19:05 So let\\\'s get back into inside of being a small business owner,
00:11:19:05 - 00:11:22:05 what has been the biggest risk you\\\'ve taken and that has paid off?
00:11:22:05 - 00:11:25:01 We\\\'re sitting in it. Yeah. Yes,
00:11:25:01 - 00:11:29:12 we thought that was going to be 100% that we\\\'re sitting and that this was
00:11:30:03 - 00:11:31:13 I mean, there was a number of people
00:11:31:13 - 00:11:33:14 that were like, Hey, you should do a podcast studio.
00:11:33:14 - 00:11:36:14 We need something like that here locally.
00:11:36:19 - 00:11:39:17 And it ended up I was planning for one
00:11:39:17 - 00:11:44:00 and the opportunity popped up that I just kind of had to take on the second one.
00:11:44:00 - 00:11:49:05 So I wrote more checks and I was very much planning on a lot of equipment,
00:11:49:09 - 00:11:52:13 a lot of equipment to see if there\\\'s a lot of stuff on there.
00:11:52:13 - 00:11:53:00 Tell you
00:11:53:00 - 00:11:57:05 there\\\'s a lot of lights and shining stuff over there that is that is flashing.
00:11:57:05 - 00:11:59:16 And yes, but I mean, to me, this is it.
00:11:59:16 - 00:12:01:21 And I it\\\'s been great so far.
00:12:01:21 - 00:12:02:21 I mean, it\\\'s work.
00:12:02:21 - 00:12:04:04 We\\\'re gaining traction.
00:12:04:04 - 00:12:07:18 It\\\'s never I mean, so many businesses opened their doors
00:12:07:18 - 00:12:11:14 and like, we\\\'re here, everyone\\\'s like, you\\\'re going to hear crickets.
00:12:11:15 - 00:12:15:00 Yeah, it has taken us a little while to get some of that traction.
00:12:15:00 - 00:12:16:11 But as we\\\'ve gotten traction,
00:12:16:11 - 00:12:19:11 I mean, especially thanks to guys like you, I mean, this has been
00:12:19:16 - 00:12:22:10 I mean, the phone is ringing, people are coming in.
00:12:22:10 - 00:12:23:21 They see the value behind it.
00:12:23:21 - 00:12:25:22 So the risk is feeling much better. Now.
00:12:25:22 - 00:12:27:03 I can sleep better at night.
00:12:27:03 - 00:12:28:09 Plus, it\\\'s nice because you have a
00:12:28:09 - 00:12:31:05 you know, you have that staff and I can fill in for you and you can have
00:12:31:05 - 00:12:34:10 a whole wide range of different hours for shoot for people.
00:12:34:13 - 00:12:36:08 When you were talking about differentiators
00:12:36:08 - 00:12:39:12 and the equipment in the studio in general is a differentiator.
00:12:40:09 - 00:12:43:09 You provide a quality equipment and quality environment to do it.
00:12:43:09 - 00:12:45:06 And for sure, that\\\'s what we\\\'re going for in this.
00:12:45:06 - 00:12:49:12 We did not want to stick for phones around the room and be like,
00:12:49:12 - 00:12:52:12 Go ahead, automate right, right, right.
00:12:52:12 - 00:12:55:05 Mr. Microphone sitting here. Right, right.
